        Introduced  by  Sen. JACKSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Judiciary
 
        AN ACT to amend the real property law, in relation  to  requiring  land-
          lords to provide tenants with a rent ledger
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The real property law is amended by adding  a  new  section
     2  235-ee to read as follows:
     3    §  235-ee.  Duty  to  provide  a  rent ledger.   Upon the request of a
     4  lessee, it shall be the duty of the lessor, or any agent of  the  lessor
     5  authorized  to receive rent, to provide the lessee with a written ledger
     6  containing a detailed record, including the amount, date and  method  of
     7  payment,  of  all financial transactions between such lessee and lessor,
     8  including:
     9    (a) Rent payments;
    10    (b) Late fees; and
    11    (c) Security deposits.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
    13  have become a law.
