        Introduced  by  Sen.  STEWART-COUSINS -- read twice and ordered printed,
          and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes
 
        AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure  law,  in  relation  to  granting
          peace  officer  status  to  uniformed court officers of the village of
          Dobbs Ferry in Westchester County
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section  2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 88 to read as follows:
     3    88. Employees of the village court of the village of  Dobbs  Ferry  in
     4  Westchester  County  serving as uniformed court officers at such village
     5  court. These officers shall only have the powers  listed  in  paragraphs
     6  (b),  (h),  and  (i) of subdivision one of section 2.20 of this article;
     7  provided, however, that nothing in this subdivision shall be  deemed  to
     8  authorize such officer to carry, possess, repair or dispose of a firearm
     9  unless  the  appropriate  license  therefor  has been issued pursuant to
    10  section 400.00 of the penal law; provided further however, that if  such
    11  employee  is not currently a police or peace officer pursuant to section
    12  1.20 or 2.10 of the criminal procedure law, such employee must  success-
    13  fully complete the training required under section 2.30 of this article.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
