        AN  ACT  to amend the labor law, in relation to requiring the department
          of labor to provide information to employers about shared work program
          eligibility and benefits
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The labor law is amended by adding a new section 602-a to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 602-a. Outreach. 1. The commissioner shall have the  obligation  and
     4  duty  of providing informational materials regarding shared work program
     5  eligibility.  Such materials shall be made available on the department's
     6  website and provided to each employer within the state annually  through
     7  such means as the commissioner deems appropriate.
     8    2. The department shall conduct outreach to employers within the state
     9  for  purposes  of providing information regarding the benefits of shared
    10  work programs, including by remote and in-person  information  sessions,
    11  correspondence,  assistance in completing an application for approval of
    12  a shared work program, and such other means as the commissioner may deem
    13  appropriate.   The department shall  consult  and  coordinate  with  the
    14  department  of  economic development, small business development centers
    15  and any other relevant  agency,  department,  office,  division,  board,
    16  bureau, commission or authority.
    17    3.  The  department shall report to the governor, the temporary presi-
    18  dent of the senate and the speaker  of  the  assembly  on  any  and  all
    19  outreach efforts made pursuant to this section on an annual basis begin-
    20  ning one year after the effective date of this section.
    21    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
