        AN  ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring general
          hospitals to have a registered professional nurse  as  a  sitting  and
          voting  member  of the governing entity responsible for developing the
          general hospital's strategic plan, structure,  systems,  policies  and
          programs
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 2801-a of the  public  health  law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 18 to read as follows:
     3    18.  All general hospitals shall have a registered professional nurse,
     4  holding a current unencumbered license from New York state, as a sitting
     5  and voting member of the governing entity responsible for developing the
     6  general hospital's strategic  plan,  structure,  systems,  policies  and
     7  programs.  Such  board position may be in addition to the maximum number
     8  of seats allowed for the governing entity responsible for developing the
     9  general hospital's strategic  plan,  structure,  systems,  policies  and
    10  programs.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    12  it  shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend-
    13  ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
    14  tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be  made  and
    15  completed on or before such effective date.
