AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to notification
requirements for traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring
devices and photo speed violation monitoring systems
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new
2 section 1111-i to read as follows:
3 § 1111-i. Traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring devices;
4 notice. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, rule or regulation
5 to the contrary, a county, city, town or village authorized to install
6 and operate traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring devices
7 pursuant to the provisions of this article shall install street signs
8 and pavement markings located one hundred feet, or as close as practica-
9 ble, from a traffic-control signal utilizing a photo violation-monitor-
10 ing device stating that a traffic-control signal photo violation-moni-
11 toring device is in use.
12 § 2. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section
13 1180-h to read as follows:
14 § 1180-h. Photo speed violation monitoring systems; notice. Notwith-
15 standing any other provision of law, rule or regulation to the contrary,
16 a county or city authorized to install and operate photo speed violation
17 monitoring systems pursuant to this article shall install street signs
18 and pavement markings located one hundred feet, or as close as practica-
19 ble, from the photo speed violation monitoring system stating that a
20 photo speed violation monitoring system is in use.
21 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
