COMRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Social Services AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to requiring food distributors that accept SNAP benefits to establish a mechanism to apply coupons to purchases made by eligible recipients of SNAP bene- fits The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 95 of the social services law is amended by adding 2 a new subdivision 12 to read as follows: 3 12. (a) Any food distributor that accepts SNAP benefits shall estab- 4 lish a mechanism to apply any available coupons or discounts to 5 purchases made by eligible recipients of SNAP benefits. 6 (b) Any such available coupons or discounts shall be automatically 7 applied when a customer makes a purchase using SNAP. An eligible recipi- 8 ent of SNAP benefits shall not be required to provide a physical coupon 9 in order to receive the discount from such coupon. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
