AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in
relation to increasing the number of licenses for tow truck operators
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 20-520 of the administrative code of the city of
2 New York, as amended by local law number 58 of the city of New York for
3 the year 1996, is amended to read as follows:
4 § 20-520 Removal of disabled vehicles on highways. a. Notwithstanding
5 any other provision of this subchapter, where the authorization of the
6 commissioner of transportation or the police commissioner is required to
7 remove a disabled vehicle from any of the highways, parkways, express-
8 ways, drives, interstate routes, thruways and bridges set forth in the
9 traffic regulations of the department of [transporation] transportation,
10 it shall be a violation of this section to effect such removal without
11 such authorization.
12 b. By December thirty-first, two thousand twenty-five, the commission-
13 er of transportation shall increase the number of licenses granted to
14 tow truck operators by thirty percent.
15 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
