AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to Westchester Purple Heart Recipients
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-aaa
2 to read as follows:
3 § 342-aaa. Portion of the state highway system to be dedicated to
4 Westchester Purple Heart Recipients. All that portion of the state high-
5 way system constituting state route thirty-five beginning at its inter-
6 section with United States route two hundred two, continuing in a gener-
7 ally easterly direction, and terminating at its intersection with state
8 route one hundred in the town of Somers, county of Westchester, shall be
9 dedicated to Westchester Purple Heart Recipients.
10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
12 as dedicated pursuant to section one of this act; provided that such
13 signing shall state "Highway Dedicated to Westchester Purple Heart
14 Recipients". However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible
15 disruption of commerce, the dedication called for pursuant to section
16 one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name
17 of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
18 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
