        Introduced  by  Sen.  BAILEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
        AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to expanding  Medi-
          caid coverage to include neuropsychological exams for dyslexia
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 365-a of the social  services  law
     2  is amended by adding a new paragraph (nn) to read as follows:
     3    (nn)  comprehensive neuropsychological examinations for dyslexia, upon
     4  the referral of a physician, when performed by  a  health  care  profes-
     5  sional licensed, certified, or authorized pursuant to title eight of the
     6  education  law  and acting within their scope of practice and in accord-
     7  ance with this paragraph.  This paragraph shall not exclude coverage for
     8  the screening, diagnosis or treatment of medical conditions.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    10  it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition,  amend-
    11  ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
    12  tation  of  this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and
    13  completed on or before such effective date.
