AN ACT relating to permitting the Setauket fire district and Stony Brook
fire district to enter into contracts with the state university of New
York at Stony Brook for property, services, and other consideration
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of the law to the contrary,
2 the Setauket fire district and the Stony Brook fire district are each
3 hereby authorized, acting by and through the governing bodies of such
4 fire districts, to enter into agreements or contracts with the state
5 university of New York at Stony Brook, pursuant to and consistent with
6 sections 355 and 6301 of the education law, and in the manner provided
7 in section 99-r of the general municipal law, for the purposes of
8 providing or receiving any property or service described in section 99-r
9 of the general municipal law related to the provision of fire protection
10 or emergency medical services within the territory protected by such
11 fire districts. Notwithstanding any provision of the law to the contra-
12 ry, the state university of New York at Stony Brook, within the limits
13 of any specific statutory appropriation authorized and made available
14 therefor by the legislature or by the governing body responsible for the
15 operation of the state university of New York at Stony Brook, may
16 contract with the Setauket fire district or the Stony Brook fire
17 district, in the manner provided in section 99-r of the general munici-
18 pal law, for such services as herein provided and may provide, in
19 agreements and/or contracts entered into pursuant to this act, for
20 the reciprocal provision of services or other consideration of approxi-
21 mately equivalent value, including, but not limited to, routine and/or
22 emergency services, monies, equipment, buildings and facilities, materi-
23 als or a commitment to provide future routine and/or emergency
24 services, monies, equipment, buildings and facilities or materials.
25 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
26 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
