        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to the supervision of
          intravenous administration of contrast media by a radiographer
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 3501 of the public health law,  as
     2  added by chapter 175 of the laws of 2006, is amended to read as follows:
     3    3.  "Radiography" means the use of x-rays or x-ray producing equipment
     4  on human beings for diagnostic  purposes  under  the  supervision  of  a
     5  licensed  practitioner.  The  practice  includes, but is not limited to:
     6  measuring and positioning patients; selecting and  setting  up  exposure
     7  factors  on  x-ray  equipment, and the making of the x-ray exposure; the
     8  performance of quality control tests; [and,]  under  the  direct  super-
     9  vision  of  a  licensed  physician,  the intravascular administration of
    10  contrast media when such administration is an integral part of the x-ray
    11  or imaging procedure; and, under the direct supervision  of  a  licensed
    12  physician,  certified  nurse practitioner, or licensed physician assist-
    13  ant, the intravenous administration of contrast media when such adminis-
    14  tration is an integral part of the x-ray or imaging procedure.
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
