        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to directing the  depart-
          ment  of  education  to  issue guidance for schools to offer take-home
          meals in the event of a disruption in food assistance programs

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 915-b
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 915-b. Take-home lunches;  SNAP  substitute.  The  department  shall
     4  develop  guidance  for  schools in the state to provide students with an
     5  additional take-home meal at the end of each school day in the event  of
     6  a  disruption  in  federal  or  state  food assistance programs or other
     7  circumstances identified by the department as creating a  risk  of  food
     8  insecurity among students.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
