        Introduced  by  Sen.  WEBB  --  read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
        AN ACT to amend the  social  services  law,  in  relation  to  obtaining
          certain employment and income data of individuals eligible for medical
          assistance
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 366 of the social services law is amended by adding
     2  a new subdivision 17 to read as follows:
     3    17. To improve decision timeliness, achieve cost  savings  and  ensure
     4  prompt provision of services to eligible beneficiaries, the commissioner
     5  of health may obtain current employment and income data of an individual
     6  eligible  for medical assistance under this title from such individual's
     7  employer through a third-party commercial consumer reporting agency,  as
     8  permitted by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C.  sec. 1681
     9  et  seq.),  in  order  to supplement current employment and state income
    10  records. The commissioner of health may obtain such  current  employment
    11  and  income  data  through  a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
    12  information  exchange  for  initial  and  ongoing  Medicaid  eligibility
    13  assessments.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
