CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing farmers' markets to operate on all state university of New York and city university of New York campuses The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 237 of the education law is amended by adding a new 2 subdivision 8 to read as follows: 3 8. a. The regents shall authorize all state university of New York and 4 city university of New York campuses to periodically host farmers' 5 markets for the purpose of providing fresh farm and food products for 6 all state university of New York and city university of New York 7 students. The department shall take any actions necessary to enable 8 community residents to participate and purchase from such farmers' 9 markets hosted on state university of New York and city university of 10 New York campuses. 11 b. As used in this subdivision: 12 (1) "Farmers' market" shall have the same definition as defined in 13 subdivision one of section two hundred sixty of the agriculture and 14 markets law. 15 (2) "Farm and food product" shall have the same definition as defined 16 in subdivision four of section two hundred sixty of the agriculture and 17 markets law. 18 § 2.
