AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to Lieutenant Pietro Viviano
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-s to
2 read as follows:
3 § 344-s. Portion of the state highway system to be dedicated to Lieu-
4 tenant Pietro Viviano. All that portion of the state highway system
5 constituting the Saw Mill River Parkway, beginning at its intersection
6 with Roaring Brook Road and continuing in a generally southerly direc-
7 tion to a point on the Saw Mill River Parkway one mile south of such
8 intersection, in the town of New Castle, county of Westchester, shall be
9 dedicated to Lieutenant Pietro Viviano.
10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
12 as dedicated pursuant to section one of this act, provided that such
13 signing shall state "Highway Dedicated to Lieutenant Pietro Viviano".
14 However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of
15 commerce, the dedication called for pursuant to section one of this act
16 shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway
17 shall not be changed as a result of this act.
18 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
