        Introduced  by  Sen. HINCHEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to allowing  advanced
          emergency  medical  technicians to order certain controlled substances
          for use by a person with a substance use  disorder  to  relieve  acute
          withdrawal symptoms

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 3351 of the public health law,  as
     2  added by chapter 878 of the laws of 1972, is amended to read as follows:
     3    2.  Controlled  substances  may  be  ordered  for use by [an addict] a
     4  person with a substance use disorder or habitual user by a  practitioner
     5  and  administered  by a practitioner [or], registered nurse, or advanced
     6  emergency medical technician to relieve acute withdrawal symptoms.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
