JUSTIFICATION:
Sergeant Gary B. Beikirch was a Vietnam veteran, Medal of Honor recipi-
ent, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community who
passed away on December 26, 2021. Gary left an immeasurable impact on
our community, our state, our nation and all those who were privileged
to spend a moment of time with him. Gary was awarded the medal of honor
for actions performed prior in Vietnam at Camp Buck-Song where defended
his fellow soldiers, Vietnamese comrades and Vietnamese villagers saving
lives as he sustained life threatening injuries.
His dedication to serve and love others didn't stop after his time in
uniform as Gary continued to devote his life to the benefit and service
of others. For over 30 years, he was a middle school counselor for the
Greece School District changing the lives of thousands of the students
he worked with daily. Gary was also a co-founder of the Veterans
Outreach Center that has served and continues to serve veterans of
Monroe County and across our region with every need they may encounter
as they try to reenter society and find some normalcy in their daily

also actively involved in his church and faith community serving as an
ordained minister.
While Gary may be gone, our community and our nation are a better place
because of him and may his legacy of love live on for all those he
