          third  reading,  passed  by  Assembly  and  delivered  to  the Senate,

        AN  ACT  to amend the public housing law, in relation to the performance
          of a study regarding homeless persons who are veterans in the state of
          New York
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Subdivision  1 of section 14 of the public housing law is
     2  amended by adding a new paragraph (q) to read as follows:
     3    (q) To conduct a study, in consultation with the office  of  temporary
     4  and  disability  assistance, department of labor, and office of children
     5  and family services to determine the number of homeless persons  in  New
     6  York  state  that  are  veterans.  Such  study shall include, but not be

                              [ ] is old law to be omitted.

     1  limited to: (i) an analysis of  veterans  in  New  York  state  who  are
     2  currently  homeless,  or  have  been homeless within five years of being
     3  released from active duty including an analysis of gender as it  relates
     4  to  homelessness  of  veterans;  (ii)  data on the number of children of
     5  homeless veterans, including the current placement of such children; and
     6  (iii) the unemployment rate for New York state veterans. The term "chil-
     7  dren of homeless veterans" shall mean a person who is unmarried and  who
     8  is  under  the  age  of eighteen years, and is the biological or legally
     9  adopted child of a veteran. A written report  of  such  study  shall  be
    10  delivered to the governor, the speaker of the assembly and the temporary
    11  president  of  the  senate by June thirtieth, two thousand seventeen and
    12  such information required pursuant to this paragraph  shall  be  updated
    13  every  two years.  Such report shall be publicly available and posted on
    14  the division of veterans affairs website.
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
    16  have become a law.
