        AN  ACT  to  amend  the civil service law, in relation to paid leave for
          members of the civil air patrol
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  civil service law is amended by adding a new section
     2  82-c to read as follows:
     3    § 82-c. Civil air patrol volunteers; paid leave.  Notwithstanding  any
     4  other  provisions  of law to the contrary, public officers and employees
     5  of the state who are members of the United States  Air  Force  Auxiliary
     6  Civil Air Patrol or the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Pilots shall
     7  be  granted  leave from work with pay to participate in training, drills
     8  or emergency services upon a written request from a unit  commander  and
     9  the  approval  of  the chief administrative officer of the state agency,
    10  department or bureau for which the public officer  or  employee  serves.
    11  The  public officer or employee shall be compensated at his or her regu-
    12  lar rate of pay for those regular work hours  during  which  the  public
    13  officer  or  employee is absent from work while participating in author-
    14  ized training, drills or emergency services missions. Such  leave  shall
    15  be  provided  without loss of seniority, compensation, sick leave, vaca-
    16  tion leave or other overtime compensation  to  which  the  volunteer  is
    17  otherwise  entitled  and  shall  not  exceed twenty days in any calendar
    18  year.
    19    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
