        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  the  iden-
          tification of vehicles being used by student drivers
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 44-a to read as follows:
     3    44-a.  Vehicles driven by student drivers. Any motor vehicle used by a
     4  person with a learner's permit shall  bear  identification,  visible  to
     5  both  oncoming  and  following  traffic, to indicate that the vehicle is
     6  being driven by a student driver. The cost of such identification  shall
     7  be  paid  by the student driver. The commissioner shall establish stand-
     8  ards for such identification.
     9    § 2. This act shall  take  effect  on  the  first  of  September  next
    10  succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
