        AN  ACT to amend the state finance law, in relation to the monies of the

          spinal cord injury research trust fund
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Subdivision 2 of section 99-f of the state finance law, as
     2  amended by chapter 612 of the laws  of  1999,  is  amended  to  read  as
     3  follows:
     4    2.  The fund shall consist of all monies appropriated for its purpose,
     5  all monies required by this section or any other provision of law to  be
     6  paid  into  or credited to such fund, and five and six-tenths per centum
     7  of monies collected by the  mandatory  surcharges  imposed  pursuant  to
     8  subdivision  one  of  section  eighteen  hundred nine of the vehicle and
     9  traffic law in an amount not to exceed eight million five hundred  thou-

    10  sand  dollars [collected by the mandatory surcharges imposed pursuant to
    11  subdivision one of section eighteen hundred  nine  of  the  vehicle  and
    12  traffic  law].  Nothing contained herein shall prevent the department of
    13  health from receiving grants, gifts or bequests for the purposes of  the
    14  fund  as  defined  in  this  section  and  depositing them into the fund
    15  according to law.
    16    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
