        AN ACT to amend the not-for-profit corporation law, in relation  to  the
          definition of cremation

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Paragraph (h) of section 1502 of the not-for-profit  corpo-
     2  ration  law,  as added by chapter 579 of the laws of 2006, is amended to
     3  read as follows:
     4    (h) The term "cremation" means the technical process[,] using heat and
     5  flame[,] that reduces human remains to ashes and other  residue  or  any
     6  other  technical  process  to  reduce human remains to cremains that the
     7  cemetery board deems in the public interest and authorizes  pursuant  to
     8  regulations  promulgated  by  the  cemetery  board.    "Cremation" shall
     9  include the processing, and may include the pulverization, of such ashes
    10  and other residue.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
