AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to children's non-re-
gulated camps
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section
2 1408 to read as follows:
3 § 1408. Children's non-regulated camps. 1. (a) All children's non-re-
4 gulated camps, as defined in subdivision one of section three hundred
5 ninety-eight-f of the general business law, shall register annually with
6 the department. Such registration shall include the location of the
7 non-regulated camp and how many children attended the camp in the prior
8 calendar year.
9 (b) No person, firm, corporation or association shall operate in this
10 state without registering with such department.
11 (c) A knowing violation of this section shall be punishable by a civil
12 penalty not to exceed five hundred dollars for each violation.
13 2. The fee to register shall be two hundred fifty dollars, except that
14 no fee shall be charged in the case of a children's non-regulated camp
15 operated by a person, firm, corporation or association for charitable,
16 philanthropic or religious purposes.
17 3. Non-regulated camps shall not be required to register with the
18 department under subdivision one of this section or pay any fee under
19 subdivision two of this section until thirty days after the department
20 has promulgated regulations and created any forms and notices necessary
21 for a camp to comply with such subdivisions.
22 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
