MAGNARELLI, JAFFEE -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. DINOWITZ -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to facilitating enroll- ment in the child health insurance plan The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 922 to 2 read as follows: 3 § 922. Information pertaining to CHIPS. The commissioner shall, in 4 consultation with the commissioner of health, develop a form with infor- 5 mation regarding the existence of the child health insurance plan and 6 information regarding eligibility for benefits under title one-A of 7 article twenty-five of the public health law. The commissioner shall 8 promulgate rules and regulations to require all public schools and 9 school districts in the state to disseminate such informational materi- 10 als to the families of all enrolled students at the beginning of each 11 school year. 12 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after 13 it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted.
