Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 1736 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY January 16, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. HAWLEY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to the definition of person The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 125.05 of the penal law is amended 2 to read as follows: 3 1. "Person," when referring to the victim of a homicide, means a human 4 being who has been born and is alive. This provision shall be known as 5 "Mya's law". 6 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted.
