        Introduced  by  M. of A. JEAN-PIERRE, ROZIC -- read once and referred to
          the Committee on Health
 
        AN ACT to amend the social services law, in  relation  to  coverage  for
          assistance  for  remotely  connected insulin pens for certain patients
          with diabetes
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Subdivision 2 of section 365-a of the social services law
     2  is amended by adding a new paragraph (kk) to read as follows:
     3    (kk) Remotely connected insulin pens for patients with  diabetes  that
     4  can  operate  interactively  and/or  autonomously for recipients who are
     5  seven years of age or older and will be using such a device solely  with
     6  appropriately prescribed insulin cartridges; provided recipients younger
     7  than  seven  years  old  may use the remotely connected insulin delivery
     8  device with adult supervision. Coverage of such remotely connected insu-
     9  lin pens shall be provided under the pharmacy benefit of medical assist-
    10  ance for all eligible patients  with  diabetes  and  the  cost  of  such
    11  services,  including  the  cost  to  administer  such  benefit, shall be
    12  adequately reflected in managed care organization premium payments.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
    14  ing the date upon which it shall have become a law.
