        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring  notifi-
          cation  and  the  informed consent of the patient prior to prescribing
          psychiatric drugs
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  public health law is amended by adding a new section
     2  3346 to read as follows:
     3    § 3346. Psychiatric drug informed consent. No doctor  shall  prescribe
     4  an antipsychotic, antidepressant, hallucinogen, or mood stabilizer drug,
     5  brand or generic, as defined in section thirty-three hundred six of this
     6  article,  for the treatment of psychiatric disorders or conditions with-
     7  out the prior notification  and  the  signed  informed  consent  of  the
     8  patient  informing  the  patient  of any possible adverse effects of the
     9  drug and the interaction with other medications the patient is currently
    10  prescribed.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
