        Introduced  by M. of A. PRETLOW -- read once and referred to the Commit-
          tee on Transportation
 
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  decreasing
          the prohibited distance of parking near a fire hydrant
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Paragraph 1 of subdivision (b) of section 1202 of the vehi-
     2  cle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 574 of the laws of  2006,  is
     3  amended to read as follows:
     4    1.  No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle within [fifteen] ten
     5  feet of a fire hydrant  except  when  such  vehicle  is  attended  by  a
     6  licensed  operator  or chauffeur who is seated in the front seat and who
     7  can immediately move such vehicle in case of emergency, unless a differ-
     8  ent distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
     9    § 2.  This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after  it  shall
    10  have become a law.
