AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation to disqualifying public
officers who have been convicted of impeachment from holding public
office
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 425 of the judiciary law, as added by chapter 545
2 of the laws of 1971, is amended to read as follows:
3 § 425. Nature of the judgment. Upon conviction, the judgment must be
4 [either:
5 1. That the defendant be removed from office; or
6 2. That he] that the defendant be removed from office and disqualified
7 to hold and enjoy a particular office or class of offices, or any office
8 of profit, trust or honor whatever under this state.
9 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
