AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to changing the timing of
when state committees shall assume certain legal authority
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subdivision 1 of section 2-112 of
2 the election law, as added by chapter 42 of the laws of 2019, are
3 amended to read as follows:
4 (a) Every state committee shall meet no earlier than September seven-
5 teenth and no later than October first following the June primary.
6 Until such organization meeting, the existing state committee shall
7 exercise all legal authority. Upon the [conclusion] convening of such
8 organization meeting, the new state committee shall assume all legal
9 authority vested in the previously organized state committee.
10 (b) Every county committee shall meet no earlier than September seven-
11 teenth and no later than October sixth following the June primary.
12 Until such organization meeting, the existing county committee shall
13 exercise all legal authority. Upon the [conclusion] convening of such
14 organization meeting, the new county committee shall assume all legal
15 authority vested in the previously organized county committee.
16 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
