AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to information to be
provided to students
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 2815
2 to read as follows:
3 § 2815. Sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking prevention
4 information. Each public senior high school shall inform incoming
5 students about sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking prevention
6 measures through programs which may include workshops, seminars,
7 discussion groups, and film presentations, in order to disseminate
8 information, promote discussion, encourage reporting, and facilitate
9 prevention of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking. Such
10 information shall include, but not be limited to:
11 1. the applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations relating to such
12 offenses;
13 2. the penalties for the commission of a sex offense, a domestic
14 violence incident and a stalking offense;
15 3. the procedures in effect in the school district or board of cooper-
16 ative educational services for dealing with such offenses;
17 4. the availability of counseling and other support services for the
18 victims of such offenses;
19 5. the nature of and common circumstances relating to sex offenses,
20 incidents of domestic violence and stalking offenses on school property;
21 and

1 6. the methods the school district or board of cooperative educational
2 services employs to advise and to update students about security proce-
3 dures.
4 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of July next succeeding
5 the date on which it shall have become a law.
