        Introduced by M. of A. KEARNS -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Election Law
 
        AN  ACT  to amend the election law, in relation to limiting the expendi-
          tures by candidates for senate and assembly
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. The election law is amended by adding a new section 14-105
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 14-105. Limit expenditures by senate and  assembly  campaigns.    1.
     4  Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, any candidate for senate is
     5  prohibited  from  spending  more than three hundred thousand dollars and
     6  any candidate for assembly is prohibited from  spending  more  than  one
     7  hundred  fifty  thousand  dollars  on  an  election  for such respective
     8  office.
     9    2. The state board of elections shall promulgate any rules  and  regu-
    10  lations necessary for the implementation of this section.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
