Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 4231 2011-2012 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY February 2, 2011 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. BARCLAY -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to authorizing certain businesses to issue registration certificates and to assign registration numbers to snowmobiles The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 2222 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 3 2-a. The commissioner is authorized and directed to promulgate rules 4 and regulations regarding the authorization of certain local businesses 5 to issue registration certificates and to assign registration numbers. 6 The commissioner shall create an application process where businesses 7 may apply to the commissioner to become eligible to issue such certif- 8 icates and numbers, provided, however, the county clerk of the county in 9 which such business is located, shall approve or deny such application. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall 11 have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD08697-01-1
