Grants one year of medical assistance eligibility to residents of the state who can prove that they have continuously resided in the United States since December 31, 1972, but cannot prove United States citizenship or permanent resident alien status.

AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to granting one
year of medical assistance eligibility to certain aliens
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 122 of the social services law is
2 amended by adding a new paragraph (i) to read as follows:
3 (i) A person residing in the state who can provide evidence of contin-
4 uous residence in the United States on or before December thirty-first,
5 nineteen hundred seventy-two, but who is unable to provide documentation
6 of citizenship or legal permanent resident status shall, if otherwise
7 eligible, be eligible for one year of medical assistance.
8 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
