AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to members of
the New York city water board and the manner of their appointment
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 1045-f of the public authorities
2 law, as added by chapter 513 of the laws of 1984, is amended to read as
3 follows:
4 2. The water board shall consist of seven members appointed by the
5 mayor with the advice and consent of the city council. Terms of office
6 of the members shall be two years except that the terms of four of the
7 board members first appointed shall be one year. At least one member
8 shall have experience in the science of water resource development. No
9 member shall be a director of the authority or an employee of the city
10 of New York. The mayor shall appoint a chairman from among the members
11 of the board. All members shall continue to hold office until their
12 successors are appointed and qualified. Vacancies shall be filled in the
13 manner provided for original appointments. Vacancies, occurring other-
14 wise than by expiration of term of office, shall be filled in the same
15 manner as original appointments for the unexpired terms.
16 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately provided, however, that
17 it shall not be deemed to affect the tenure or qualifications as such of
18 any member of the New York city water board on the date upon which it
19 shall have become a law during the remainder of his or her then current
20 term.
