        AN  ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to vehicles or
          combinations of vehicles exceeding maximum dimension and weight  limi-
          tations
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 52 to read as follows:
     3    52.  Every vehicle combination consisting of a tractor and two or more
     4  trailers or semi-trailers shall have posted at the rear thereof  a  sign
     5  indicating,  in  letters  of  a  size  readable  from a distance of five
     6  hundred feet, that such vehicle  combination  is  of  excessive  length.
     7  Provided, however, the provisions of this subdivision shall not apply to
     8  any  trailer  or semi-trailer being operated in combination with another
     9  trailer or semi-trailer and not exceeding twenty-eight and one-half feet
    10  in length.

    11    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
    12  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
