AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to
educating the public about the health and environmental impacts of
lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, and the manufacturing
thereof
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Paragraph b of subdivision 2 of section 19-0301 of the
2 environmental conservation law, as amended by chapter 319 of the laws of
3 2022, is amended to read as follows:
4 b. Encourage voluntary cooperation by all persons in controlling air,
5 water and soil pollution and air, water and soil contamination, includ-
6 ing but not limited to, educating the public about the health and envi-
7 ronmental impacts of idling vehicles, such as air pollution from vehicle
8 emissions, environmental impacts of carbon dioxide emissions and health
9 risks associated with exposure to vehicle emissions. Such education
10 shall, at a minimum, include developing and distributing educational
11 materials and posting such information on the department's website.
12 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
