        AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to the powers of
          the canal corporation
 

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Paragraphs (n) and (o) of subdivision 7 of section 382 of
     2  the public authorities law, as amended by chapter 138  of  the  laws  of
     3  1997, are amended and a new paragraph (p) is added to read as follows:
     4    (n)  enter on any lands, waters, or premises for the purpose of making
     5  borings, soundings, and surveys; [and]
     6    (o) accept any gifts or any grant of funds or property from the feder-
     7  al government or from the state or any other  federal  or  state  public
     8  body or political subdivision or any other person and to comply with the
     9  terms and conditions thereof[.]; and
    10    (p) waive any fee for a work permit which it has the power to issue if

    11  in  its  discretion  the project which is subject to a work permit would
    12  add value to canal lands without any cost to the  canal  corporation  or
    13  the state.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
