AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to establishing the offense
of disruption of a sports contest
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 240.23 to
2 read as follows:
3 § 240.23 Disruption of a sports contest.
4 A person is guilty of disruption of a sports contest when, not being a
5 sports participant as defined in subdivision two of section 180.35 of
6 this part, he or she, with intent to cause annoyance, alarm or physical
7 injury to a sport participant or sports official as defined in subdivi-
8 sion three of section 180.35 of this part, causes an object to be
9 projected onto the field of play of a sports contest as defined in
10 subdivision one of section 180.35 of this part.
11 Disruption of a sports contest is a class A misdemeanor.
12 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
13 ing the date on which it shall have become law.
