        Introduced by M. of A. MURRAY -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Judiciary
 
        AN  ACT  to authorize the establishment of a housing and community court
          in the town of Brookhaven
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 

     1    Section  1.  The town board of the town of Brookhaven may by ordinance
     2  or local law establish a housing  and  community  court  to  assist  the
     3  district  court in the disposition of all violations of town of Brookha-
     4  ven housing laws, codes and ordinances. Such court shall  be  authorized
     5  to render a final decision, determination or order imposing civil penal-
     6  ties  and  may take any other action  authorized by law. All hearings in
     7  the Brookhaven housing and community court  shall  substantially  comply
     8  with  the  requirements  of  article  three  of the state administrative
     9  procedure act. The court shall not impose a term  of  imprisonment  upon
    10  any person or order the arrest or detention of any person.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
