        AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to  the  imposi-
          tion  of  certain  fuel  adjusted  surcharges by the Long Island Power
          Authority
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section 1020-s of the public authorities law, as added by
     2  chapter 517 of the laws of 1986, is amended by adding a new  subdivision
     3  3 to read as follows:
     4    3.  Notwithstanding  subdivision  one of this section, any increase of
     5  the fuel adjusted surcharge imposed by the authority, shall  be  subject
     6  to  review  and  approval by the public service commission prior to such
     7  increase taking effect. The public service commission shall  review  any
     8  such  increase by the authority to ensure that such increase is just and
     9  reasonable pursuant to section sixty-five of the public service law, and
    10  issue a report on same.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth  day  after  it  shall
    12  have become a law.
