        AN  ACT  to amend the family court act, in relation to investigations of
          abused or neglected children
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The opening paragraph of subdivision 1 of section 1034 of
     2  the family court act, as amended by chapter 329 of the laws of 2009,  is
     3  amended to read as follows:
     4    A  family  court  judge  may order the child protective service of the
     5  appropriate social services  district  to  conduct  a  child  protective
     6  investigation as described by the social services law and report, within
     7  fourteen  days  of such order or request, unless just cause can be shown
     8  to extend the time to twenty-one days, its findings to the court:
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
