Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6596 2015-2016 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY March 27, 2015 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CRESPO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Employees AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring police officers to complete community affairs duties on an annual basis The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended 2 by adding a new section 14-146 to read as follows: 3 § 14-146 Community affairs duties. Any member of the police force 4 ranked as a police officer as set forth in subdivision six of section 5 14-102 of this chapter, except those police officers permanently 6 assigned to the community affairs bureau, shall aid and assist the oper- 7 ations of the community affairs bureau to foster positive and productive 8 police-community relations through completion of at least fourteen 9 active duty shifts per calendar year with the community affairs unit of 10 such officer's assigned precinct. The commissioner shall promulgate 11 rules and regulations regarding such police officers' annual assignments 12 with the community affairs units within six months after the effective 13 date of this section. 14 § 2.
