Authorizes the village of Montgomery, in the county of Orange, to allow Brian Briere, James Coscette, Joseph Feola and Curt McDermott, part-time police officers employed by such village, to take the examination for the position of full-time police officer and be placed on the eligible list for such position with such village.

AN ACT to authorize certain part-time police officers employed by the
village of Montgomery, in the county of Orange, to take the compet-
itive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible list for
appointment as a full-time police officer for such village
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
2 service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Brian Briere,
3 James Coscette, Joseph Feola and Curt McDermott, who have been contin-
4 uously employed by the village of Montgomery, in the county of Orange,
5 as part-time police officers, shall be eligible to take the competitive
6 civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall,
7 contingent upon their scores on such examination, be eligible to be
8 placed on the eligible list for appointment as full-time police officers
9 for the village of Montgomery.
10 § 2. Brian Briere, James Coscette, Joseph Feola and Curt McDermott
11 shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the
12 civil service law applicable to full-time police officers.
13 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
