        Introduced  by M. of A. VANEL -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Housing
 
        AN ACT to amend the real property law, in relation to requiring  lessors
          to provide a copy of a lease agreement upon written request of a resi-
          dential lessee
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The real property law is amended by adding  a  new  section
     2  235-j to read as follows:
     3    § 235-j. Duty to furnish lease. Upon receipt of a written request from
     4  a  residential  lessee,  the lessor or their authorized agent shall have
     5  the duty to furnish a copy of the lease agreement entered  into  between
     6  the  lessor  and the lessee within thirty calendar days from the date of
     7  such request, provided however that this duty shall not  apply  where  a
     8  lessee requests a copy of their lease agreement more than two times in a
     9  calendar year.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
