        AN  ACT  to  amend  the education law, in relation to the posting of "no
          trespassing" signs by public school districts
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 409-m
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 409-m. No trespassing signs; regulations.  For purposes of providing
     4  for the safety of its students and personnel,  public  school  districts
     5  shall  adopt  and enforce rules and regulations for the control of, use,
     6  and access to, school grounds and facilities. Such rules and regulations
     7  shall include, but are not limited to, erecting "no  trespassing"  signs
     8  at the entrance or entrances to any such grounds and any other appropri-
     9  ate  points  therein.  Failure  to  obey  such  signs  shall result in a
    10  violation of section 140.05 of the penal law  and  shall  be  punishable
    11  appropriately.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    13  it shall have become a law.
