AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to exempting certain retired
law enforcement officers from the requirement to obtain a license to
carry a firearm
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Paragraph 1 of subdivision a of section 265.20 of the penal
2 law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (g) to read as follows:
3 (g) a qualified retired law enforcement officer as defined in subdivi-
4 sion (c) of section 926c of chapter 44 of title 18 of the United States
5 Code.
6 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
