        AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to maintenance of division of
          employment services offices
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The opening paragraph of section 14 of  the  labor  law  is
     2  designated  subdivision  1  and  a new subdivision 2 is added to read as
     3  follows:
     4    2. The department  shall  maintain  division  of  employment  services
     5  offices  which  shall provide services to those persons with employment-
     6  related needs, including, but not limited to, accepting application  for
     7  or  assisting  in  the  continuing maintenance of unemployment insurance
     8  benefits. There shall be at least one such office in each borough of the
     9  city of New York and each county in  the  state  with  a  population  of
    10  greater than 150,000 as determined by the most recent federal census.

    11    §  2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
    12  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
