AN ACT to amend the state finance law, in relation to the attorney
licensing fund
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The state finance law is amended by adding a new section
2 94-c to read as follows:
3 § 94-c. Attorney licensing fund. 1. The attorney licensing fund is
4 hereby continued in the joint custody of the state comptroller and the
5 commissioner of taxation and finance.
6 2. Such fund shall consist of that portion of the biennial attorney
7 registration fee deposited therein pursuant to section four hundred
8 sixty-eight-a of the judiciary law and any other moneys deposited there-
9 in pursuant to law.
10 3. All moneys in the attorney licensing fund shall be available,
11 subject to appropriation and in addition to any other moneys available
12 pursuant to law, for the payment of services and expenses of the judici-
13 ary in operating its candidate examination (state board of law examin-
14 ers), candidate fitness (committees on character and fitness) and attor-
15 ney disciplinary programs pursuant to section ninety of the judiciary
16 law, including liabilities incurred in a prior fiscal year.
17 4. All payments of moneys from the attorney licensing fund shall be
18 made on the audit and warrant of the comptroller on vouchers certified
19 and approved by the chief administrator of the courts.
20 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
