        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  FERNANDEZ  --  read once and referred to the
          Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development
 
        AN ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law,  in
          relation  to  requiring  publicly  accessible  compost bins on certain
          state land

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  parks,  recreation  and historic preservation law is
     2  amended by adding a new section 13.08 to read as follows:
     3    § 13.08 Requirement of compost bins. The office shall install publicly
     4  accessible compost bins on all lands that currently have other  publicly
     5  accessible  waste or recycling bins, including state parks and parkways,
     6  under the jurisdiction of the office. The office shall clearly mark each
     7  compost receptacle with an indication that  only  compostable  materials
     8  are to be deposited in such bin.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
